2nd Call for Abstracts
Guangdong Hong Kong Macau Sustainable Development Conference was founded in 2002 by professional bodies from Guangdong Province, Hong Kong and Macao. Since its inception, it has been successfully held 7 times and has the widespread recognition and support from the engineering industry, scientific community and the social community, to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong has made a positive contribution. The 8th Sustainable Development Conference will be hosted by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE). The joint organisers of the conference are Guangdong Provincial Association for Science and Technology and the Macau Institution of Engineers.
The main theme of the Conference is “Opportunities and Challenges of Sustainable Development in the Pearl River Delta Bay Area under the Belt and Road Initiative”, The Belt and Road Initiative is an important strategy for China’s external and internal development. The Pearl River Delta Bay Area (PRD Bay Area) has become a major focus of future development and growth. The conference would cover five key development concepts: innovative development, coordinated development, open development, green development and shared development. The three objectives of development are economic vibrancy, environmental sustainability and social harmony. The conference would promote discussion on the future development trends and thinking in the PRD Bay Area under the Belt and Road Initiatives and the overall sustainable development master planning and challenges. It would also facilitate dialogue on the opportunities and challenges of sustainable development in various cities in PRD Bay Area. The conference also serves to promote cooperation and synergy on sustainable economy, transport, information and smart cities; environment and green development (air, water resources, green buildings); energy and climate change; and social development and the trends towards international standardisation and management.”

The authors have to submit the full paper on or before 18 July 2016. We will inform you separately for those presentations.
Publishing All selected paper will record in the Conference Proceedings, Proceedings USB and the HKIE E-bookshelf. Manuscripts of papers generally will not be returned to the authors. Authors are reminded to keep a second copy of their paper for conference. Where the organiser may need to amend the content and format of the paper, authors are assumed to give consent and authorise the organiser to amend and publish the abstract and full presentation paper, and to include them in any conference publication.

Abstract: The 8th Guangdong Hong Kong Macau Sustainable development conference 2016 organizes the conference on “Sustainability and Challenges of the Belt and Road Initiative” on 23 Sept 2016. Invited papers will be published in the seminar proceedings. The format required for publication is demonstrated in this sample paper. Perspective authors can also use this sample paper as a template in the preparation of their papers.
INTRODUCTION In general, the paper has to be camera-ready to facilitate publication and to minimize errors induced by unnecessary handling. The purpose of this sample paper is to illustrate the format requirements of the paper so as to produce seminar proceedings of uniform format with minimal editing.
FORMAT REQUIREMENTS
The format requirements for the paper to be published in the seminar proceedings are outlined as follows.
General
General format requirements for the paper are as follows:

There should be a one-inch margin.

The font of the paper should be Arial 12 points.
-
SI units should be used throughout the paper.
Paper Title The title of the paper should be concise and descriptive of the contents of the paper. The font size of the paper title should be 16 points, bold and all caps.
Author(s) The font size of the author name(s), title(s) and affiliation(s) should be 12 points and title case.
Abstract The abstract should be in Arial 12 points and italic. The abstract should be concise and preferably not more than 200 words.
Main Heading There should be two empty lines before a main heading. The main heading should be 12 points, bold and all caps.
Sub-Heading There should be one empty line before a sub-heading. The sub-heading should be 12 points, bold and title case.
Figures and Tables Figures and tables should be clear and legible as they are. Axes should be clearly labeled for figures with proper units. Title of the figure should be placed underneath the figure and title of the table should be placed atop the table.
OTHERS
If the authors choose to include an acknowledgement section, it should be placed after references. Any appendices should be given after the acknowledgement section.
CONCLUSIONS
A sample paper is given to illustrate the required format for the papers to be published in the proceedings of the 8th Guangdong Hong Kong Macau Sustainable development conference 2016. Prospective authors are encouraged to follow the format so as to minimize the editorial effort required to produce a uniform proceedings. REFERENCES The reference section should appear at the end of the paper. Citation should be complete and correct.
